This week, Razoo reached a major milestone. As the fastest growing crowd-funding site for causes, we are now home to $100 million in charitable giving, more than half of which was raised in the past nine months! Hundreds of thousands of people have come together to support over 14,000 of their favorite nonprofits on Razoo. These funds have preserved wildlife and national parks, promoted local art and culture, funded youth development programs, provided shelter for the homeless and hundreds of other worthy causes.
At Razoo, we believe you don’t have to be a millionaire or a big corporation to be a philanthropist. With our tools, anyone can make a difference. Over the past few years, we’ve seen many inspiring fundraisers and dedicated donors. Whether you’re running across Antarctica for after-school programming or camping out in the Minnesota cold to raise awareness for homeless veterans, it’s our job to make sure you’ve got the online resources to succeed.
“We’re very excited to share this accomplishment with everyone who made it possible,” said CEO Lesley Mansford. “These are the donors who gave generously, the fundraisers who worked tirelessly, and the organizations that continue to make the world a better place. We are so grateful you’ve included us in the inspiring work you do every day. We’re not going to sit here and pat ourselves on the back – we’re going to roll up our sleeves and do it again!”
While part of the $100 million was raised by traditional methods such as teams running the Boston Marathon, which totaled more than $1.2 million raised on Razoo for the 2012 race, we’ve also hosted mustache-growing challenges, dock-diving dogs, and vintage video game marathons. It’s the stories of creative fundraisers like these that have built Razoo into the vibrant and generous community it is today.
But most recently, Razoo has seen an influx of donations due to our 24-hour giving day competitions. Starting in 2009 with GiveMN, a record-setting $14 million was raised in one day for Minnesota-based nonprofits. In addition to pitting NPOs against each other to vie for award money, participants say these events provide long-term benefits such as attracting new donors and learning how to use social media to promote their cause. Now having executed 15 giving days with partners across the US, Razoo remains the leader in this space.
“Razoo was critical to our giving day success,” said Katie Wright, programs manager of the Park City Foundation Center. “They truly were partners and provided support before, during and after that was effective and timely. They care about our event and by extension our community, and because of this we were all successful.”
Razoo would like to thank all of the individuals who have given generously and the fundraisers and organizations that continue to address important needs around the world. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your work, and thank you for sharing the stories, photos and videos of the amazing results you achieved with every dollar you earned. We are thrilled to announce this $100 million milestone, and it’s all because of you. Here’s to living generously, and inspiring others to do the same.
